H.A.Perera
At 59 he was too young to go so soon. But after a brief illness due to complications of stomach cancer he succumbed to it. He never married due to devoting time to his mother whom he cared for throughout his life.
His career as an actor began with the street drama with veteran Gamini Haththotuwegama in 1974, and he never gave it up. ‘H.A.’ as he was popularly known as by his colleagues, directed Sthree, Puslodang, Spartacus which were some of his better known dramas and was a musician as well.
He graduated to being an exceptional entertainer in both Teledramas and movies in addition to stage dramas. He was versatile in all his endeavours as an artiste. Some most unforgettable of his talent was used by directors especially in teledramas like Doo Daruwo, movies such as Kelimadala and stage plays as Sekkuwa and Galileo. His performances won him both Sarasavi and State awards.
His funeral will take place today at the public cemetery Madampitiya, Modera. (DP)
